The
areas attractions
Carmarthenshire
provides endless sporting, cultural and relaxation facilities,
all of which can be reached from the cottage with ease. A
fully descriptive brochure highlighting the additional facilities
available at the cottage will be mailed on request.
Many
of our visitors enjoy watching the wildlife around the farm. You
may be lucky enough to catch sight of Red Kites nesting nearby
or the Buzzards circling above our fields. You certainly will
be able to see our resident bats (two roosts, Pipestral & Natterers.)
We have our own dog walk on site for those of you wanting to bring
your well-behaved dogs on holiday with you.
What
you can find near the cottage
From
the front of the cottage turn right and head down the Gwendraeth
Fach Valley (see a picture)
towards Kidwelly, Llanelli and on towards The Gower. The nearest
beach at Llanstephan is only 10 miles away. Take a look
here
You
might want to make for Pembrey Country Park, the Forestry Commission
Pine Trail and its mountain walk. Turn left and passing through
Porthyrhyd, join the A48 and within 7 miles you will reach the
County Town of Carmarthen.
Carmarthen
is a Roman
town spanning the River Towy, complete with its own Amphitheatre,
here you will find Museums,
Theatre,
ample shopping facilities and daily and weekly markets.
Or
head due north from Porthyrhyd and visit the National
Botanic Garden of Wales with its centerpiece, the
great greenhouse - the worlds largest single span
glasshouse. Here's a picture
which might give you a tiny idae of its
size. Helpfully for families, the garden runs a children’s
club, which you may find about here.
Travel
on through the Towy Valley along the A40 to Aberglasney
to see its own small but perfectly formed gardens and the results
of its major restoration scheme. Don't miss
the fantastic Yew Tunnel.
